Homeschooling is a choice many of us make for many different reasons. For our family, one of our biggest "WHY's" is because we want to be truly and authentically connected. In our house connection happens in the graces and spaces of the seemingly mundane in the every day.
Connection happens when we reframe our perspective. Patiently and lovingly allowing the "I'm bored" to be naturally transformed into an epic sibling fort building with costumes and books and flashlights.
The adversities and differences of our personalities offers ample opportunity for real life discussions about foundational topics of being a kind, caring and compassionate person in this unkind world.

As someone who was bullied both as a child and a grown adult (by other adults), I know the importance of treating others with kindness.
The simple act of being kind goes a very long way.
We hold each other lovingly accountable as best we can in our home and we encourage others to do the same.
It's not always easy to choose kind especially when others are unkind to us.
However, we try our best and forget the rest.

We believe in the power of family and the importance of creating lasting memories. We strive to live our lives with authenticity, kindness, and gratitude.
We practice compassion daily.
We teach our children to have compassion for others who are less fortunate or marginalized.
We volunteer at our local Rescue Mission and other nature organizations.
We give our time to a blind neighbor whom we give rides to to make his life easier.
We prepare and have a stock of winter homeless care-kits in our car and hand out these kits in winter when we see someone in need.
We see and hear those who are questioning their identity and give them space and grace to search for what is true and right for them without judgement.
We care for our planet earth, and pick up trash in our neighborhood as well as with local groups and non profit organizations.
